One Harvest a Year · Himalayan Sourced

Named after the highest point. Grown on the slopes below it.

These plants — what Nepal has always called jadibuti — have been used medicinally for thousands of years by one of the world’s oldest healing traditions: a small population who understood them long before modern science arrived, and much of what they knew is still ahead of it. 8848 Herbs brings the rarest of them to your door.

Our Story

It started with a small batch.

In 2021, travelling through Nepal and Southeast Asia, our founder found Himalayan herbs sold raw in open markets and almost no one around who knew what to do with them. The practitioners who did were making preparations by hand, quietly, for the people of these hills.

What struck him was how little of it had ever left them. This tradition grew up in the Himalaya — beside Ayurveda, and older than most written records of either — and then stayed exactly where it started. The reason is unglamorous: the batches are small, the demand is local, and what doesn’t leave the region doesn’t get known.

So he made small batches for friends and family who needed help. The results were good enough that they asked for more. 8848 Herbs started there. Not much has changed since.

Small batches, made the way they always were

Why the Himalayas

A plant grown in difficult terrain is not the same plant.

At altitude, everything that makes life hard for the plant makes it better for us. Anyone who has walked a Himalayan trail has seen it — the higher you go, the smaller and tougher the plant, and the more it is carrying.

01

Growth slows

Thin air and a season measured in weeks mean the plant produces less — and concentrates what it does produce.

02

The plant builds its own defenses

Cold and high UV force it to generate protective compounds. Those antioxidants and essential oils are richer than in any lowland variety, and they’re exactly what makes it worth taking.

03

The soil is clean and mineral dense

Mountain terrain, far from anything industrial, nurtures pure and chemical-free development.

04

The best species aren’t farmed

They grow wild, where they’ve always grown, in small quantities — harvested by local communities using time-tested methods that keep the plant’s properties intact.

That’s the standard we source to.

What We’re Actually Here to Solve

8848 Herbs isn’t medicine.

It’s nutritional support built from the most potent herbs the Himalayas grow, for the everyday things people live with. Alongside what your doctor gives you. Not instead of it.

8848

Why 8848

Nothing grows at 8,848 metres. That’s the point.

8,848 metres is the height of Sagarmatha — the mountain Nepal lives beside and the rest of the world flies in to see. It isn’t where we source from. It is the bar we set for everything that carries the name.

We go as high as plants will grow

Not the summit, but as far up the slopes as anything survives. Slower growth, harder to reach, and the yields are small. We do it because that’s where the difference is.

We take from a system that has to keep working

Wild plants, mountain soil, the same slopes next season. What we harvest is limited by what the ecosystem can give without being emptied — not by what we could sell.

One harvest a year

A single short season, no second crop, no forcing a yield. What the mountain gives that year is all there is. That’s why the batches are small, and why they’ll stay small. This region is hard to scout for harvesting too, so there are years with no yield at all.

We follow the local communities who know

Which plant, when to take it, what to leave standing — that’s generations of local practice. Our job is to work on their terms, not to improve on them.

We only modernise the last step

Everything up to the bottle is done the way it’s always been done. Extraction is where current methods earn their place: getting the compounds out intact, without altering the natural healing properties of these plants.

The name is a standard, not an address.

Our Philosophy

What we hold to.

Every brand in this category claims the same things. Here’s what ours actually cost us.

Quality means saying no

If a batch doesn’t meet the mark, it doesn’t ship. We’d rather be out of stock than out of standard.

Transparency means the whole label

What’s in it, how much, and where it came from. You already know the source of our product from our name.

Sustainability means taking less than we could

The slopes have to produce again next season, and the season after. That limit sits above our sales targets, not below them.

Wellness means the long version

Nothing here works in three days. These are plants that support the body over months, taken regularly. We won’t pretend otherwise to make the sale easier.

Ingredient integrity means nothing else in the bottle

No fillers, no bulking agents, nothing added to make a number look better on the back of a pack.

Why Choose Us

Six things we won’t trade away.

⛰

Sourced as high as plants will grow

Not inspired by the Himalayas — grown on them, where thin air, cold and UV force plants to build the compounds worth having.

🕐

One harvest a year

A single short season, no second crop, no forcing a yield. Some years the mountain gives nothing at all. The batches are small.

📜

Knowledge that stayed in the hills

Ayurveda travelled the world. The mountain practice that grew up beside it stayed local, passed hand to hand. We work with the communities who still hold it.

🛡

Purity and potency

No fillers, no bulking agents, nothing added to pad a bottle or a number on a label.

🏺

Old methods until the last step

Everything up to extraction is done the way it’s always been done. Modern processing only where it protects the plant’s properties rather than altering them.

Honest about what this is

Nutritional support, not medicine. Built to work alongside what your doctor gives you. Never instead of it.

Founder Message

A note from our founder.

I didn’t set out to build a company. I brought herbs back from Nepal in 2021 for people I knew — family, a few friends, all of them dealing with something.

The first was a childhood friend who’d been having a rough time with something he’d bought off a shelf. What I gave him wasn’t a cure and I’ve never claimed it was. It was a safer version of what he was already using. That was enough for him to keep asking, and for other people to start asking too — quietly, because of what it was for.

What surprised me wasn’t that it helped. It was how little of this had ever left the mountains it came from. The plants are there. The knowledge is there, held by people who have never needed to write it down. But the practice that grew up on those slopes never travelled the way Ayurveda did, and the ones who still hold it were making preparations by hand for whoever was in front of them.

Then came another two years learning how to build something people could actually buy online. Five years between the first batch and the first sale.

What I won’t do

There will be times a product is out of stock for months. That’s the nature of a single annual harvest in the Himalayas. I’m not going to fill that gap with a lowland substitute so the shelf looks full. If it isn’t from the mountains, it isn’t as strong — and I’d rather sell you nothing than sell you that.

I’ll be honest about the limits too. This isn’t medicine. It won’t replace what your doctor gives you. It’s support, taken regularly, over months rather than weeks. This is what I give to my own close ones, and that’s all I’ll claim for it.

FAQs

Questions about the brand.

What is 8848 Herbs?

8848 Herbs is a Himalayan wellness brand that sources high-altitude botanicals — Sea Buckthorn, herbal skincare and herbal wellness formulations — and brings them to homes across Nepal. It is nutritional support, not medicine. 8848 Herbs is operated by Jaskwellness Private Limited, Jaipur, Rajasthan.

Where are your products made?

Ingredients are sourced from high-altitude Himalayan slopes and harvested by local communities. Manufacturing happens in certified facilities operating under GMP, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 systems.

Why are Himalayan ingredients different?

Altitude changes the plant. Growth slows, so the plant concentrates what it produces. Cold and high UV force it to build protective compounds — antioxidants and essential oils richer than in any lowland variety. The soil is mineral dense and far from anything industrial. The best species aren’t farmed at all; they grow wild, in small quantities.

Are your products certified?

Yes. Our products are manufactured under GMP, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards, in line with Ministry of AYUSH requirements for herbal products.

How do you source ingredients?

Through one harvest a year, taken from wild-growing plants on high slopes by the communities who have always harvested them. Which plant, when to take it and what to leave standing is their call, not ours. What we take is limited by what the ecosystem can give without being emptied — which is why the batches are small and why some years there is no yield at all.

What products does 8848 Herbs offer?

A deliberately short range: Sea Buckthorn for high-altitude nutrition, and the 8848 Organic Delay Cream. You can see everything currently in stock on the all products page.

Do you deliver across Nepal?

Yes. We deliver nationwide — Kathmandu valley, Pokhara, Chitwan, Butwal, Biratnagar, Dharan, Birgunj and beyond. Packaging is plain and unmarked. If you’re unsure whether a product is right for you, message us before you order.
